Team Performance Curve
We've all heard of the ‘Tuckman model’, but what about the Katzenbach and Smith 'Team Performance Curve'?
This curve illustrates that how well a small group of people performs depends on the basic approach it takes and how effectively it implements that approach.
It prompts us to question whether creating a high-performing team is always necessary, or if a working group might be more efficient.
While the team is in the Storming phase, which seems to map onto the Pseudo Team work group type, we are paying the price of that group performing poorly.
More info can be found in the book ‘The Wisdom of Teams’ by Jon Katzenbach and Douglas Smith.
